When a boy of 10, I used to sit on the pier of my family's summer cottage, on a small Midwestern Lake, and dream of riding in one of three or four hot rod boats there. Fifty (50 mph), was Mac Daddy speed, Whoa!!  That was a long time ago.  Matter of fact, upon reflection, it was two Sangers, one Rayson Craft, one Rinker (B-Utility).  A twenty-one Eliminator, a-24-Eliminator,two-24-Skaters, one-28-Skater,two-32-Skaters, two-30-Motions, one-30-Spectre, nine(9) Scarabs, four-assorted-one-off's, one triple cockpit Hacker Craft Gentleman's racer, so forth, etc., period. The above boats were, as for most of us Crazy Hot Rod Boaters, the dream machines. Yet often when pushed, they broke. Of course technology, better engineering, parts and a single minded drive from a handful of engine builders for better, stronger power plants survived. Ron Potter was one of the survivors. Then, came three Nor-Techs.  The most awe inspiring look I had ever seen, modern, sleek, and slick.  It reminded me of the Ferrari.

Ron Potter, at the time, was Nor-Tech's chief engine man.  He met me at the dock in Ft. Myers; about 30 minutes after Trond had called him.  My brand new Cat was not purring.  Of course it did not have RON POTTER Engines, "My own ill advised advice".  Ron was a bit reluctant to fuss with them, rightly so, although he got them running to some degree of use. They were looking fairly good on the outside, and yet through several return visits to the original engine builder never ran properly. After much frustration and expense we basically junked them.

Then Ron built me a pair of the most beautiful Engines I, and most, have ever seen them admire.  They were of a fit and finish TIFFANY’S could have displayed them. Yet in HOT RODDING Beauty is only skin deep. A Potter engine has heart, soul, and kicks it when called upon.  Need I say more?  Ron's engine work is the best, competitive, intuitive, and interactive from the very beginning of any potential build.  I can only wonder how many hours went into our discussions of how critical it was as my personal goal to have powerful mid-range, and I got it. How many guys call you on your Poker Runs to see how you and your engines are performing?

I'll sum it up, ask Ron to send you a pic of his Propane fork lift...
