"The Power Behind Powerboating"

Bob Pritchard - 382 Formula Fastec
The last thing I had in mind was rebuilding my motors.  Even though they already had 375+ hours on them I thought I could get one more year in before rebuilding.  The truth is I was petrified by the thought after hearing so many nightmarish stories from fast boat/car owners over the years.  I had never undertaken a project like this and it felt truly daunting.

By chance I came across an article in Performance Boats Magazine, July 2009 about Potter Performance engines.  The article painted a very positive picture about the firm and the services they offered.  So I decided to call and see first hand if the people described in the magazine were anything like the people in the shop.  After a 10 minute conversation with Ron I was convinced that the writer’s impression of Potter Performance was on the mark.  More importantly I felt I could trust them with the job of rebuilding my motors.

The reality of my experience with Ron Potter only got better.  They included me in all phases of the project.  I was told I could call 24/7 and if I did not get him on the phone, he would return my call immediately.  Ron called & emailed me pictures of the motors when they were dismantled and again as he was installing new parts and re-assembling them.  Even though my boat was over 1200 miles away, I could not have been more involved in the process if it had been done in a local shop.  Needless to say the work on my boat was completed on time and my motors are simply amazing!
But Ron's involvement didn't end when I picked up my boat.  The first time I used the boat I had forgotten how Ron instructed me to use the throttles during a cold start.  I wound up flooding the engines and fouling the plugs.  I called Ron and he calmed me down and talked me through the process of getting the motor started.  He even offered to come out and change the plugs for me, which I thanked him for but declined.  Well he drove over to where I had put the boat in the water in Fort Meyers Beach (over and hours drive from his shop!) and changed them anyway.  And did I mention all of this happened on a SUNDAY?

That's just the kind of person Ron Potter is.  He doesn't treat you like a client, but like a valued friend.

Thank you Ron, Liz, Brian, Darrel & Nick.  The Boat is running great and I couldn't be happier with the results.  You guys are fantastic!
